Fr. Georges Henri Tavard, AA
1922-2007
ARCJPC (Member) and
ARCIC-I (Member, 1970-1981)
Born in Nancy, France, he taught in England from 1949-51 before moving to the USA in 1952. A member of the Augustinians of the Assumption, he was ordained in Metz in 1947. He received a doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Facultés theologiques de Lyon. He was appointed as a peritus at the Second Vatican Council and served as a consultant to the Secretariat for Promoting Christian Unity. He was a member of the ARCJPC and ARCIC I, as well as ARC-USA and the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Dialogue in the USA.
